Prototype. Each hexagon carries the summed score of every recorded soul whose suffering fell inside it, for the chosen years. Colour is log10 of the score.
Sources in this build: UCDP GED 25.1 (one-sided and civilian deaths, 1989–2024); Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Database 2019 (embarkation, Middle Passage, bondage); Wikidata camps with recorded death counts; Seguin–Rigby lynching supplement 1883–1941; a curated table of bioarchaeological sites from 800 kya onward (forensic evidence, genus Homo, combat assemblages excluded); Colonial Frontier Massacres in Australia 1788–1930 (Ryan et al., University of Newcastle, 438 sites); a draft curated table for Aotearoa New Zealand (Musket Wars, New Zealand Wars, Moriori, Parihaka). Polygon and route footprints are drawn at H3 resolution 4 (about 1,770 km² per cell); point sites at resolution 7 when zoomed in. Souls are counted per episode, so one enslaved person appears in up to three episodes.
